A Trick is a Trick, a John is a John, no matter how much money they spend!

One of the popular lines from many a rapper these days is "it ain't tricking, if you got it." Which means if you have the money to spend on strippers or prostitutes, then it's okay to do so.  This flies in the face of the old school mentality of not paying for lovin (at least not directly paying for lovin).  Certainly, if one does pay, then he concedes to tricking.

What irks me about this statement, is the sheer arrogance of it.  These clowns justify exploitation on the basis of having the means to do so.  It sounds very similar to might makes right.  Better yet, manifest destiny, which basically rationalized the early Europeans treatment of Native Americans and Africans.  It's ironic that rappers would use the same philosophy of the people who enslaved their ancestors.

Another interesting thing about these certain rappers is, they'll mock a guy for tricking his last dollars away.  But an essence, what is the difference between him and the rappers?

Ultimately, whether "you have it" or not, your still a trick.  Having the ability to make it rain, does not elevate one from trick status.  This belief is a microcosm of what's wrong with popular culture's ideal of Black manhood today.  What some of our folk value as "powerful" is amazing.  That the ability to "make it rain," to these men, is the equivalent to commanding a military.  To hell with admiring Colin Powell, Martin Luther King Jr or Malcolm X, no, power to these men is the ability to control women.  It seems like many of these clowns don't respect women that much, so it's obviously about their perception of power and control over them.  Never does the idea that their manhood has nothing to do with how many women they can control, but what they stand for or what they believe in.  Never do they speak of positive values they hold dear or providing for and protecting their families.  No, their focus is on trying to justify tricking.  

The bottom line is simple, if your in a strip-club and pay for the attention of a stripper, then you're a trick.  No amount of money can ever change that fact!
