Changeling is a must see movie!

Truth usually does not make recommendations of motion pictures, but I have to talk about "Changeling." Clint Eastwood directed this movie and it stars Angelina Jolie as a mother who's child has been abducted.  It's a fascinating movie, one that stays with you long after watching it.  In my opinion, Clint Eastwood is the best director in Hollywood and this film proves my point.

One of the more remarkable things about this film is it's based on a true story.  This story seems so implausible, the fact that its truth and not fiction is disturbing.  Even though this is a period piece that takes place in late 1920's/early 30's, it does not diminish the shock value.  If anything, it bothers me even more to know something like this could occur just seventy to eighty years ago.

There are many lessons one can learn from "Changeling." The evil that men do, absolute power corrupts absolutely and women have a right to be angry about the treatment they received in this country are the salient points that stick with me.  I now realize why radical feminists exist.  Not to say I agree with them, but I understand.

Another thought crossed my mind after watching this flick.  If a single white woman got this kind of treatment in the late 1920s Los Angeles, what in gods name happened to single black women going through a similar issue, during that time? At best they were probably just ignored, at worst, I don't want to even go there.

Ultimately, one leaves this movie knowing that evil has always existed in this world.  All the nostalgia we here about "the good old days," is because people have conveniently forgotten stories like "Changeling." It's enough to make a man distrust the whole world and put his faith in nothing.  Many Black comedians joke about the angry old black man.  That old cat that trust's no one and who has faith only in himself.  Folk chastise this man because they think he's out touch with today.  Although, nobody ever considers how he got that way or even better yet, what he saw that made him what he is.

Check out "Changeling" and let know what you think about it.

My wife has been trying to get me to check this movie out.
I agree with you on Clint. Not only is he one the best directors, he is one of the best actors. I started watching Westerns because of him.

Dirty Red,
Thanks for the comment and continued support. I agree with you on Clint being one of the best actors in Hollywood. My wife loved the film, so yours will probably like it as well.

Peace

Kofi Bofah,
I'll check it out. Thanks for letting me know!

Peace

Sauce,
Yeah, I''ve read mixed reviews as well. Some guy on the BBC website didn't care for Angelina Jolie's overall performance. They said she did in okay job on screaming and crying, but was not the most believable grieving mother. My hometown paper loved the film, check it out and see how you feel about it. Let me know what you think.

Peace
