Powell's response says it all

Two days after seeing the presidential election results with my own eyes, it's still hard to believe. Mentally, its difficult for me to process this new information. Barrack Obama will be our 44th president and I'm totally surprised. If someone would have told me two years old ago that Barrack would win the presidency in 08, I would laughed in their face. There's no way I could have conceived that it was even possible in my lifetime, definitely not in two years time.

What I found even more touching were the reactions from people around the country. Folk all across America spontaneously poured into the street and celebrated. TV pundits and celebrities were seen on camera crying, overcome with emotions about what they had just witnessed.

The one reaction that sticks in my mind is that of Colin Powell. This stoic warrior/statesman usually shows no emotion, but even he could not hold back tears on this historic event.

All I can say is, God Bless America!

Don't forget about Condoleezza. She giving Barry his props too!

But we ALL owe them an apology (whether we are guilty or not) for the black race talkin' trash about them.

This is a historic new era that we live in. Too bad that the euphoria of this election is gonna wear off before Thanksgiving. Even before the inauguration, we are gonna be asking both Bush and Obama to start working together. Thank God they are planning on doing it next week.

The stage was set after Obama's speech at the 2004 convention - warming it up for John Kerry.

Zack,
Your right, many black folks do owe Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice an apology.

The euphoria is already starting to where off, Obama's enemies on the right are hoping for his downfall. That Fat SOB Rush Limbaugh called Obama and his new chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, "Thugs" the other day on his show. I could write some negative stuff about Limbaugh, but he isn't worth my time.

Peace

Kofi Bofah,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I agree with you, but had someone told me back then that Obama would be president in four years time, there's no way I would have believed them.

Truth,

I knew that he would emerge, because Chicago is an impossible market to crack for outsiders.

This is the machine politics defined. For Obama to rise from a nobody outsider to a U.S. Senator representing Illinois may have been even more difficult than defeating Billary in the primary.

Kofi Bofah,
I keep hearing about this "Chicago political machine" and "Chicago style politician." I thought it was just propaganda from fox news, maybe I should give it a second thought!

Truth,

Study up, buddy. Chicago is a gangster 'Western' style scofflaw city from the days of Capone. The prohibition bootleggers paid off and intimidated politicians to control the turf. The suburb of Cicero's government was actually indeed CONTROLLED by Capone at one time.

That mindset has carried through to today.

Chicago politics is characterized by bribes, payoffs, and Democratic machine power. Look at Governor Ryan. Look at Governor Blagojavich. Both IL governors have been bankrolled by shifty Chicago wheelers and dealers. Also, the Daley family has controlled City Hall for two generations.

Read the writing on the wall, buddy.

For Obama to come out of this chaos unscathed is testimony to the President's strength and is nothing short of an absolute miracle.

Kofi Bofah,
Thanks for the information, I know a little about the Daley family but I have to do additional research on the other people you mentioned.

What your basically saying is it's no accident that Obama has risen to such exceptional heights, so quickly.
