New year Resolutions/pledges for us!

Another year is coming to end and new one begins.  When this new year begins, we have a chance to right the wrongs of previous year's gone past.  In actuality, we can change at anytime, it doesn't have to be the beginning of a new year.  Yet, a new year does symbolize fresh possibilities that we can capitalize on.  That's if we make a plan and then follow through with it.  Here's some ideas for my brethren and I, most of us are already doing these pledges, but it never hurts to have a reminder.

1. I pledge that from this day forward I will strive to love my brother as I love myself.

2. I, from this day forward, will strive to improve myself spiritually, morally, mentally, socially, politically and economically for the benefit of myself, my family and my people.

3. I pledge that I will strive to build business, build houses, build hospitals, build factories and enter into international trade for the good of myself, my family and my people.

4. I pledge that from this day forward I will never raise my hand with a knife or a gun to beat, cut or shoot any member of my family or any human being except in self defense.

5. I pledge from this day forward, I will never abuse my wife by striking her, disrespecting her, for she is the mother of my children and the producer of my future.

6. I pledge that from this day forward, I will never engage in the abuse of children, little boys or little girls, for sexual gratification.  But I will let them grow in peace to be strong men and women of the future of our people.

7. I will never again use the "B" word to describe any female, but particularly my own Black sister.

8. I pledge from this day forward that I will not poison my body with drugs or that which is destructive to my health and my well — being.

9. I pledge from this day forward I will support Black newspapers, Black radio, Black television.  I will support Black artists who clean up their acts to show respect for themselves and respect for their people and respect for the ears of the human family.

Take the pledge today and have a Happy New Year!

Peace

Why argue with an internet idiot?

Last Friday, superstar blogger "The Field Negro" wrote a post informing his readers of a white racist blog.  Mr. Field Negro encouraged his readers or at least gave them the option, to comment on this racist's blog by linking it to his.  I won't name the idiot here, you can go to the Field Negro's blog and check it out if your interested.

This clown's blog had very ignorant photos and views of Black folk.  One post in particular, was about over weight Black women and "Black men on the Down Low."  It was really immature stuff, something you would assume came from an insecure teenager.  It's what one would expect from a white hate mongers blog.

Let me say that I like the Field Negro's blog, but this racist clown does not deserve anymore attention then he already receives from his supporters.  Furthermore, what would debating a person like this really accomplish?  Even the most rational people ( and this idiot is far from rational) can be completely stubborn when it comes to what they believe in.  You present an individual with evidence that contradicts one of their core beliefs and they find some other information to support them.  Most of our beliefs have a certain emotional component to them, which trumps rational thought, so it's difficult to actually change someone's mind through an argument.  The only time people truly change is when they want to or it becomes too uncomfortable to stay the same.

Now, back to the racist idiot.  He likes conflict and being a bigoted prick, why else would you write a blog with that kind of message?  He needs attention and probably has some insecurity issues, psychological as well.  Debating someone like him is a waste of time.  Any historical fact you bring up, he'll refute with something he has read that supports white supremacy.

Ultimately, life is short, far too short to waste one minute debating with an internet racist.  Better to ignore internet racist and let them rot away in their own hate/misery.  They created their own prison.

Kevin McHale must go! If not, then Glen Taylor must go!

Posts about sports generally do not get many responses on my blog, but then again I haven't been getting many comments anyway.

The Minnesota Timberwolves fired their coach, Randy Wittman Monday morning.  This organization (owner Glen Taylor) decided to replace him with the team's vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale, who had to give up that position to coach.  They should have sent him packing with Wittman, but I'll get to that later.

My Timberwolves have become a joke around the league and this is due to incompetent leadership.  Glen Taylor has supported Kevin McHale much longer that what has been warranted.  The only positive with him becoming the coach is he no longer makes decisions on player personnel.  McHale's blunders in the front office have become legendary.  He traded away "the big ticket" Kevin Garnett in 2007, who quickly won a world title with Boston last season.  A world title that eluded him for twelve years in Minnesota, mostly due to Kevin McHale's inability to put quality players beside him.  Most Garnett haters( McHale and Taylor included) excuse during his time in Minnesota was, "He makes too much money" for the team to sign quality talent.  Yet, Garnett makes the same salary in Boston and they were able to surround him with enough talent to win a title within a year.  So it wasn't about money, it's about McHale.

In the 2006 draft, McHale picked Randy Foye over Brandon Roy.  Mr. Roy won rookie of the year in 2006-07 and was a 2007  - 2008 all star.  As for Randy Foye?  Not so much.

On draft day last June, McHale traded O. J. Mayo to Memphis for Kevin Love and veteran guard Mike Miller.  O. J. Mayo leads all rookies in scoring and might be rookie of the year.  As for Love and Miller?  Not so much.

These are just McHale's recent mistakes, I could go on for days, but I won't.  Although, I can't leave out my favorite draft day blunder.  McHale drafted high schooler Ndubi Ebi in 2003 ahead of Josh Howard, Leandro Barbosa and Kendrick Perkins.  Legend has it that Mr. Ebi was getting schooled in pick up games by then Minnesota Gophers guard Vincent Grier in 2005 - 2006.

With this type of job performance, one has to wonder how the hell does Kevin McHale stay employed?  A job with the same damn organization is amazing.  What does dude have to do to get fired?  Trade Al Jefferson for Michael Olowokandi?  Hopefully, this is his last chance and once this team finishes in the basement again, Taylor will finally come to his senses and fire McHale!  If not, then Taylor needs to sell the team.  It will become obvious that he is too foolish himself to continue owning a professional franchise.
